Encouraging personal-development and self-improvement
Throughcare have recently started to offer clients life coaching sessions. These sessions are voluntary and as well as and in conjunction with the clients support plan and sessions with their Support Worker.
They can choose to have one to one sessions with the Life Coach or join group sessions; each session is aimed at helping and empowering the client to set, achieve and even exceed their personal and professional goals. |
Empowering our clients to fulfill their potential, to overcome their vulnerabilities and live independent and productive lives.
Vulnerable people can often feel alone and excluded from their communities. This can be due to their own low self esteem, the fear that they have nothing to offer and therefore they have little to no self worth. Or because they feel let down by their communities and therefore no longer ask for assistance; feeling that they will be turned away or not be eligible for assistance.
By offering life coaching in conjunction with their support plan we can offer clients a safe and comfortable place in which talk about changing their lives for the better. The support they receive can help to build their confidence, help them think about where they want to be in the future and encourage them to think positively about their progress, no matter how many times they may question themselves or falter, a step forward is always something to celebrate .

How can life coaching help?
When a client first sits with their life coach, they are asked a number of questions, such as, what do they want to get out of their life? What areas of their life are they unhappy with? Where would they like to see their future selves? It could be that the client has never thought about the answers to those questions, or maybe the thoughts were there and they just didn't know how to achieve them. A life coach can work with the client but it is up to the client to work towards achieving their goal with the tools the life coach will provide for them. Only the client can make these changes happen, it is their life after-all.
The life coach will never tell the client what they should or should not do. Their role is to provide clients with the tools to face challenges and push themselves through emotional barriers with confidence.
Life coaching can help with all aspects of life; confidence, motivation and focus in all things personal and professional can be achieved in the right environment with the right encouragement. Although these sessions will be run alongside the client's support plan, there may be occasion when the client wishes to work on an issue with their Support Worker as well. This is perfectly acceptable and practical in a way that could benefit the client even further.
