What we're doing
We are helping to empower men, women and their child/ren to regain confidence and independence after suffering domestic abuse at the hands of others.
These individuals live in constant fear for their lives and the lives of their child/ren, wondering what will trigger the next bout of violence. Will their child witness what is happening to them? If they report it to the authorities will they believe them and if not what will happen to them, their child/ren when the violence gets worse? These are just a few of the things that go through the minds of victims suffering with domestic abuse. |
We are supporting men, women and children who are or fear they may become victims of forced marriage or honor based violence.
Forced marriage claims both male and female victims and children as young as 13 years old. Quite often these victims can endure attacks of physical violence, mental and emotional abuse, abduction and imprisonment. In worst cases some of these victims are murdered or commit suicide. They are usually in isolated situations and feel they have no one they can turn to for help or will sympathise with their situation. These acts of violence are carried out by people they trust and love which can make coming forward and speaking out or seeking help and advice an even tougher task than if their perpetrators were strangers. |
We are educating and housing unaccompanied minors (asylum seeking children, refugees, young expectant mothers or young mothers with babies who need extra support, young people leaving care and young children and/or young adults).
The reality these children and young adults face daily are horrendous. Through no fault of their own these children have lost their parents, sometimes through frighteningly violent acts they have narrowly escaped themselves; forced to leave their home where they were physically, mentally and emotionally abused by the very people who should love and protect them; moved from foster home to foster home, never feeling part of a family unit or in some cases not feeling safe in their placement, causing them to run away. |
Our overall aim is to provide our clients with a service they can rely on to help them achieve their goals. A service that encourages them to be confident in their abilities and to add a positive outlook to their life. Ultimately we aim to help with the transition from supported housing to independent living.
